President's Trophy
The President's Trophy (aka Norman Whyte Shield) was presented to the Club by Norman Whyte who was President 1957 to 1973. It is awarded annually for the best progress.
In 2012, the Shield was completely full with winners date plates, and underwent a complete refurbishment, with all the past winners names engraved on a plate on the reverse.
In 2024, it is awarded to Ashley Thomas. Always a difficult one to award, most pilots improve every year with regular attendance, but Ashley was a standout for the instructor team. Ashley has gone from a (self confessed) underwhelming performer to a very measured, skilful pilot in the last 12 months. This is due to dogged determination, unfaltering attendance and a real self belief.Ashley epitomises the path to success.
